Dakota: Welcome to the Hometown Trades Journal. I'm Dakota, and Roger's with me.
Roger: Thanks, Dakota. This week it's catering in Fayetteville, Arkansas, home of the Walton Arts Center on Dickson Street. The rule to know first is generally twenty-four hours' notice.
Dakota: A day isn't long. Which Fayetteville kitchen are you looking at?
Roger: Rx Catering NWA. The company behind it goes back to two thousand one, and it was a finalist for Best Caterer in AY Magazine in twenty twenty-four. This Fayetteville kitchen has served Northwest Arkansas since fall twenty twenty-five.
Dakota: Who ends up ordering from a kitchen like that?
Roger: Corporate clients are largely pharmaceutical reps and clinic or hospital staff, and Washington Regional Medical Center and a University of Arkansas with more than thirty-four thousand students keep clinic and campus lunches steady. The kitchen opens at six-thirty on weekday mornings, so breakfast for a seven-thirty meeting is a normal order.
Dakota: Now the money. What does a person cost, and are trays extra?
Roger: Typical prices on the website are per person. A breakfast sandwich tray, minimum ten people, is from six dollars and ninety-nine cents. A box lunch with a wrap, chips, a cookie and a fruit bowl is from thirteen dollars and forty-nine cents. Chicken alfredo is from thirteen ninety-nine, and beef brisket is sixteen ninety-nine. Trays are priced separately: fruit from sixty-two dollars and ninety-nine cents, and a dessert bar tray from forty dollars and ninety-nine cents.
Dakota: How should someone choose between Fayetteville caterers?
Roger: Start with a menu that lists dishes and per-person prices, so the math is done before the call. Check that the notice fits your date and the setup fits your room. Then read reviews for detail. Bjay, from a Fayetteville office, wrote that the staff arrived early and set everything up perfectly. The business is A-D-H certified and a member of the Arkansas Restaurant Association, and the team behind the kitchen is former pharmaceutical representatives and executive chefs, with sixty-plus years of combined experience.
Dakota: And how does the food show up, office versus event?
Roger: An office lunch arrives in insulated carriers, ready to serve. An event gets chafing dishes, set up on site. Every dish on the website can be ordered and delivered, and organic ingredients can be sourced.
Dakota: Is there a Fayetteville office lunch that shows how that plays out?
Roger: Tanya is an office manager at an insurance office in Fayetteville, with twenty-four people at a quarterly planning meeting. The quarter before, a national chain's driver ran late. So on a Monday morning she called Rx Catering NWA for a Wednesday lunch at eleven forty-five.
Dakota: What did she order?
Roger: Twelve chicken parmesan at fifteen dollars and ninety-nine cents a person, twelve BBQ pork at fourteen ninety-nine, and one fruit tray at sixty-two ninety-nine. The food came to four hundred thirty-four dollars and seventy-five cents, before tax.
Dakota: And how did it arrive?
Roger: The crew got there ahead of the meeting with the hot entrees in insulated carriers, ready to serve, plus plates, napkins, cutlery and serving utensils. Her team went back for second helpings of the chicken parmesan. One phone call two days ahead settled the whole lunch.
Dakota: So what should someone booking this week take from that?
Roger: Book a day ahead, and match the setup to the room. Price it by head count, with a tray or two on top. The business to call is Rx Catering NWA in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at R-X catering dot net, or by phone at four seven nine, five oh two, nine eight seven nine.
Dakota: That was catering in Fayetteville, Arkansas. That's the Hometown Trades Journal. New episodes every week. Thanks for listening.
